Tihana Mikša was born 16 December 1972 in Zagreb. In 1997 she graduated from the Faculty of Textile Technology, University of Zagreb, Department of Textile and Clothing Design. After that, she attended private school Start for a year.  

During her studies she participated successfully in international competitions such as Smirnoff Fashion Awards 1995 (Gorizia, Italy), and JOBIS 1995 and 1996. In 1996 she won scholarship for German company Jobis where she spends two month.

In 1997 she became a member of the Croatian Association of Artists of Applied Arts (ULUPUH), Department for Fashion Design, and participated in numerous exhibitions.

In 2002 she became a member of the Croatian Freelance Artists Association (HZSU), and in 2011 member of the Croatian Designer Society (HDD).

In 1999 she won Heruc-Profokus-Mila competition, and visited PREMIERE VISION PARIS.

In the period from 2004 to 2006 under the auspices of designers quintuplet «MUSTRE» presenting her collections at numerous fashion shows. In 2005 she won a "Manda" award at Zagreb Fashion Week.

From 2003 to 2007 she cooperated with Mozaik knjiga publishers as an illustration on children magazine Prvi izbor editions. She has also been successfully cooperating with the Profil International since 2005 as an illustrator of school editions, at workshops and as a designer of costume-puppets for presentation purposes. In 2005, she was listed in the Catalogue of Croatian Illustrators. 

In the period from 1999 to 2000 she worked as an assistant on various projects with designer Goran Lelas, e.g. sports collection for Naturino, and as assistant costumographer for opera Aida in Shanghai, China, directed by Krešimir Dolenčić, with the greatest ensamble of 2000 people. 

She cooperates with Traditional Wool Treatment Center (sponsored by the Council of Europe) in Mrkopalj (Croatia) as an expert assistant and with the Center for Creative Alternatives through the program for psychosocial assistance to persons confronted with difficult life crises.

Since 2009 she has been a member of the Department for Applied Painting, Illustration, Cartoons, Comic Book and Animated Film, and the Department for Toys and Puppets Design of the ULUPUH.

Continuously exhibits as a member of Department for Toys and Puppets Design of the ULUPUH in a group exhibition Tracking a puppet in Zagreb, Rijeka, Varaždin, Ljubljana, Osijek..

 

In 2010 she completed her (MA) graduate study of Textile and Fashion Design, Textile Design Module, at the Faculty of Textile Technology, University of Zagreb.

In 2011 participated on the international workshop of inclusive design Extra/ordinary design as a member of textile team organized by British Council Croatia, Croatian designers association, and the School of design, Faculty of architecture, University of Zagreb, in co-operation with Helen Hamlyn Centre, Royal College of Art, London.

She was working for 8 years at the Faculty of Textile Technology, University of Zagreb, Department of Textile and Clothing Design.

While working for the Faculty, she mentored and coordinated competition Our Beautiful Sava River for the students of the Faculty for Textile Technology, in cooperation with Coca-Cola Croatia. She was also among mentors of workshop and exhibition Exploration of the White – Behind the Visible.

In 2012, she did her standalone exhibition titled Bauhaus Dances, in 2016 Past…at last, and Mad as a hatter in 2019.

She occasionally collaborates with a non-profit organization Cenzura plus (organization for promoting human rights and media freedom) as a leader of workshops on making prototypes and textile samples using various techniques.

Under the aegis of HDD she holds elementary school workshops titled Designer ABC Book – Reweave, dealing with basket-making.

In cooperation with CKI Maksimir and elementary schools from Zagreb, she occasionally holds theme workshops.

She made visual concept and produced costumes for Red Noses Clowns Doctors, Karavan Orchestra.

Lately, she works on a project Coca-Cola HBC Adria, making creative proposal for sales staff, including look book, purchase and design, as well as collaborates with kindergarden DV Košnica, making visual identity through designing few textile products.

In 2019 she made costumes for theatre show Kum, Kokot, Krivac.

The latest project was at the movie Tune up, as a costume designer. Before that, she worked at the The Diary of Dijana Budisavljević as an assistant costume designer.
